About animals' thoughts

It's a common idea to think that we're the only "thinking being" around the planet. Well, in my opinion this is completely false. Animals think! I only need to look at my dog to see that! Whenever she's mad at us, she turns her back to us. Now, is that an instinct or she thinking "they don't do what I want, so I'll protest"?
Recently there was an article on a newspaper that said that a lighthouse man saw thousands of animals running away to the mountains right before the tsunami hit Asia. I accept that animals may have a kind of "6th sense" for this, along with some scientific proofs that they sense the changes in the Earth's magnetic field or just listen much better than we do and could have heard the earth shaking. But why did they run to the mountains? Why not running to some lower place, also far from the beaches? And why did some animals warn the others, even those of a different species? I tell you. They THINK and are also capable of having good feelings for the other species, even if they're their predators.
This case is just one, of course! There's also the capability of speaking using signs, already proved in chimps and also in other monkeys, considered less intelligent. To understand a language, in my opinion, you must think for yourself! Any comments on this?
